After several years of never getting around to it I shot a close friend of mine and his wife... just so they could have some photos for themselves and maybe for holiday cards.

He's been restoring a 61 ragtop bug and drove it the 1/4 mile from his house to where we shot. After a half an hour shooting in the park I suggested we use the bug as a backdrop. It's no where near finished, it doesn't have any glass in it (no windshield or anything) with the exception of the small triangle glass in the door and the interior is pretty much gutted. Paint is original, which is a nice way of saying it needs help, and well, he just wanted to drive it down the road.

Here's the result of bug being used, shot on a 5d w/ 24-70 2.8L, 43mm focal distance, f/3.2, 1/800 in AP mode at ISO250, natural lighting with the aid of a 3.5' gold reflector being held for me. Post process in LR.

That's a gorgeous colour process that has a wonderful retro feel to it.

wow. I agree that is has a great retro feel, and the facial expressions are very good. Great shot.

I thought the bug was in pristine shape (I would never have guessed it had no glass)... you got a great scene there. Great processing. Nice tones. Well done.

Takes me back...my first car was a 1961 VW Bug (Type1)...that was back in 1966. My buddies used to call it the Berlin Buick. Your picture door, door frame, interior and steering wheel brought back fond memories of der Beetle.

You have absolutely nailed the processing to evoke the right feel; this pic could be used in a PS training book somewhere. Well done!

I like this shot. The driver looks like he just stepped out of the 50's or 60's
