Bored with the standard shots, faced with unbelievably bad lighting (1/400 @ f2.8 and 6400ISO), and inspired by some recent football shots posted here, I thought I'd try for something a little unusual for my style.

1/160s @ f2.8 3200 ISO yeah, its that bad..

Hi. I like the fan shots and the last one. Not keen on the blurry one - I think Ive seen the 'inspiration' shots you refer to and want to try that myself! Wasnt it done with flash? Gee, cheerleaders - you Americans do things in a big way - never seen that in the UK.

great fan shots

#1 is cool but i think that would get old after a while but. if it had more pan to it i think it would help improve it. its pretty hard to get a good pan in soccer with the way they move though

I know, it really is and I don't see doing this often but figured, why not give it a shot. Nowhere near the quality of the football images I tried to emulate.

Hannya, thanks. As much as the cheerleaders are something, you should see how elaborate the halftime shows get with the band. Honestly, I think many people go just for that since the crowd always thins after the half regardless of whether we are winning or losing.

JLBS and winam, thanks very much. Glad you liked em. I may try a shot like #1 a few more times from behind the end line as I may get that sideways movement I am hoping for. For this one, I was just happy to get the face in focus a bit at that shutter speed.
