Both photo's are great and I really like the subject matter and compostion. Having grown up in Newton, I miss scenes like this and find them very nostalgic. Comparing to your shot from the week before, the fall colors really add to the scene and I think you improved the shot on the whole, but still have some more room to make it better still.
I like the perspective in #1 better, but the sky needs fixing. You've got haloing behind the trees on the left and the entire right half of it draw my eye and the flat clouds ruin the photo for me. If it were me, I would mask in correct original exposure, and as others have mentioned tweak down the red just a bit on the wheel and house. The sky in #2 appears blownout entirely, but you've eliminated the haloing so overall I like it better as posted.
