A friend and I went to take a trip to the Salton Sea in California the other day. If you're not familiar, it's the largest lake in CA and an environmental disaster. Hardly anyone lives there and it's pretty depressing, but it's barren, desolate and beautiful all in one. We met up with some locals who were racing dune buggies and vintage cars around on the beach, and they kindly let us photograph them. They were great guys!

Here's some more reading on the Salton Sea to better understand the absurdity and sadness of the whole thing:

And now for the pics:

#1 is redonkulously cool...

Maybe pull just a little more detail out of the deepest shadows back by the rear wheels?

Maybe...?

If it weren't for the events which created the Salton Sea, I doubt very much the Imperial Valley would be the agricultural machine it is today! :D

Good shots of a "Drive it like you stole it!" situation. ;)

I'd like to see a little bit less contrast and some more shadow detail in all of them; but those are some seriously cool Camaro shots there, Mike! Love the last one a lot

Haha - thanks! Definitely agreed about the second part, too. A very interesting area - green fields right up against millions of dead fish and desert.

Was really cool to see, would be more fun to drive I bet.

Thanks. Was a tough lighting situation for sure, with the sun almost at the horizon. I see what you mean though, but I don't think I can recover and shadow detail without a ton of noise coming through.
