Hey folks,
Just installed wordpress on my webspace and set it up.

Can you recomment me some site, where to get wordpress themes? I would love to have a free or low-priced theme for now, cause it's my first. Can upgrade it later.

There are quite a lot of site availeble through google, but i thought, we could make a list of them all.

Would like to have a black one optimized fot presenting my pictures in different categories. The setup should be quite easy or well documentated.

Please tell me also links for tutorials and help sites. I will than make a new thread, were all links are listet, sorted by proramm, type of site (themes, tutorials, ...). I saw so many great portfolios in your signature, but i don't know where to find those.

I will do that for different programms like netobjects fusion, wordpress, ... . After that i have a full list with sites for webspace, programms, tutorials... So everyone who want's to start his/her own page has everything together.

Thanks winam

There is a theme called picture perfect which you may be interested in
it is here http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/picture-perfect (external link)

Also the last url you posted has many good templates for Wordpress and as with
all of the templates, you can edit them to suit your needs.

There is also much information/help on editing css & php files if required.

Regards
Tim

There are lots of choices and some of the free ones featured on websites which aslo sell themes are not so nice. Once you get the hang of it, any theme can be customized to change its appearance.

Personally, I use PrimePress for my blog: http://itsjustlight.com (external link)

I like PrimePress because it's very easy to customize many features and it's not too cluttered.

I also think Very Plain Text is another nice looking theme.

You can search for new themes to install and try out from your Wordpress dashboard which you access by going to http://whateveryourblogis.com/wp-admin (external link) and from there clicking on Appearance and then Themes and then clicking on Install Themes. From there you can search for free themes based upon certain keywords or by putting in the name of a theme you already know like "PrimePress".

You can use the checklist below the search box to select certain features you want and search for a theme that way as well. Browse a bunch of different wordpress blogs and see which themes they are using - many will have a little link at the very bottom of their page that says what theme they're running, but if not you can also view the source code for their blog and it will usually tell you somewhere near the top.

Once you find one you like it's very easy to install the theme right from your dashboard without needing to manually install anything yourself. Just keep in mind that you should always save any custom changes you've made to the theme because if they release a new version of the theme and you download the update, you will possibly lose all of your changes. It's also a great idea to back your blog up frequently too.

Have fun :)
