This is Keills Chapel on the west coast of Scotland.
It dates back to the 12th or 13th century. The cross outside is a modern cross to replace the "High Cross of Keills" which has been brought inside the chapel, along with medieval warrior grave slabs, to protect them from the weather.
This is obviously not a grand religious building but a typical West Highland Medieval Chapel. ( the roof is modern to protect the interior )
The water behind is Loch na Cille and behind that is the "Island of Danna"

The following image includes the "High Cross of Keills" which dates back to the 8th century.
The top arm of the cross shows an angel stepping on a serpent.
the left and right arms show two lions kissing Daniels face.
If anyone is interested I can upload a detailed crop.

Finally some warrior grave slabs, which some books like to portray as Templar ( which they are not ).

Great Shot. Your country has such a rich history and rugged landscapes that it makes it a photographers heaven.
Brings back fond memories of my trip there this summer. Will have to plan another trip to see places like this.

All the greenery brings life to an otherwise monochrome looking picture, and I mean this in a good way. Very cool!

Wonderful photos and information, Cameron.
Yes, I would very much like to see a detailed crop of the High Cross of Keills.

Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.
I have a Cannon with me at all times. You can't take the shot if you don't have something with which to shoot.
