Such wonderful rich history. The dark clouds add so much to the historical feeling of the first photo. Thanks for sharing Cameron . Regards Reigh

Trevor, Reigh, Dan thanks for the kind words.

To let you into a secret, I know this image will look very plain to some eyes.
It's one of those "you have to be there to appreciate it" shots.
How remote the place seems. The fact the building is around 800 years old and the High Cross perhaps 1200 years old.

I feel something really special when I'm in an area such as this ( I visit many ) and yet I have no religious tendencies.
Is that strange or more common than some might think ?
I dont know. ?!

I know just what you mean. I'm not religious either, but there is an atmosphere about some of these places. Greatly affected by the remote locations.
Have you ever visited Cove, near Poolewe? There's a memorial to the Atlantic Convoys there, along with the remains of the coastal defences. The atmosphere there made the hair stand up on the back of my neck!
I think, in part, that its because there is so much history to Scotland. Even if you only know a small amount of it, these places seem to make you think of the people that lived and died there.

Hope you're well
Regards
Trevor

Hi Trevor,
Never been there, though I'll make a point of it on my next visit to the Applecross region. ( Hopefully next Spring or Summer ? )

Hope you're safely battened down.
It's a bit wild tonight. :(

Hi
So nice to hear you all talking so fondly of Poolewe and the surrounding area, I live in Poolewe and am amazed most days by the scenery. Just hope I can learn to be as good at taking the pictures as you guys!

Brilliant Cameron,

Well composed, good saturation, nice contrast between the sky and foreground. Too bad the Daffodills were not in bloom in the foreground.

Before you start apologizing for the importance of such a small remote Church - think of this. How many folks in their lifetime will actually get there to see it? Shots of remote/rare buildings are very valuable and are a part of history that through technology can be transmitted via this thing that we call the Internet, in a matter of minutes.

We should all be thanking you Cameron, for the time that you took to bring the image into our homes... and for free.

Never under estimate the effect you will have on others after pressing the shutter mate. This goes for many of the regulars in here... take a minute to think of the responses you get after pressing that little silver (or black) button. 1/500th of a second to you... might mean a lifetime to others.

Cousin. Who sometimes can be empathic.... other times pathetic. :(

You've been digging deep, bonsai.:)
I posted these images over a year ago.

Cuz, thanks for the kind words.

BTW I've just updated some of the images of the High Cross that were missing.
