So I've been getting more calls to do real estate photography and other things which require me to have an ultra-wide angle lens. I posted (recently) about which one to get. I'd really like to get the Tokina 11-16 f2.8 but it's out of my budget at the moment (they also just bumped the price $100 on them). So I'm looking for something to get me by until I can save my pennies a bit.

Been seeing the Sigma 10-20mm on sale (used) for good prices. Just wondering if anyone here has experience with this lens for something other than just landscape shots. I'm aware of needing to be careful about getting a sharp version of their lens but it seems like it's not a horrible lens but I've never worked with one.

I don't really like that the aperture isn't fixed but I can deal with that as I'll be shooting at smaller apertures anyway. More curious about the distortion and quality.

Thanks.

check out the Sigma 10-20 thread - there's probably thousands of images in there, and some are probably related to what you're looking for!

IMO The Sigma is pretty good, what happens is that it is not the best of the UWA, and people love to put it down,
If you shoot using a tripod, set usually at f8 / f10 for nice DOF you will get amazing results
At 10mm you'll find some distortion but this to be expected.
But for interior Real State images (house for sale etc) and some nice staging and lighting this lens will do the job and then some more, IMO is a great value.

Check out the Sigma 8-16mm, it is great for interior. Not as cheap as the 10-20 though...

Thanks. I'll look up the Sigma thread.

The guys in the Real Estate thread seem to like it as well. I'd prefer the Tokina 11-16 but it's just not in the budget.

I'll be shooting at f8 or above (for the most part) so I should be good there.

Thanks again!
