I would get a 70-200 2.8 mk1

I'd be interested to hear the reasons why :)

I am a terrible shaker, so IS and or OS is always a priority for me.

I sold my Canon 70-200 f4 IS and purchased the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 OS.
I just could not get myself to spend $2600 for the Canon L 70-200 2.8.
The money I saved; or should say, "The money that I did not spend on the Canon lens", went towards the purchased of my 7D.

The shots I am getting from the Sigma are just as sharp as what I was getting with the Canon 70-200 f4 IS. The OS is great and the AF is fast enough for me.

I own an older EF 70-200 2.8L (no IS) and it has been a great lens to use. I picked up a Sigma 150-500mm OS and have been blown away by what I can shoot hand-held! Sigma's OS system is pretty fast on this slower apature lens and would have to assume it is only better at f/2.8. I will be looking at upgrading to SI/OS in the 70-200 f/2.8 range very soon and the Sigma will be a top contender vs. Canon's IS mkI.

"Mostly shoot landscapes/critters - 'some' sports (Soccer) but not much."

For the soccer, OS will not help you, since you'll want to use a high shutter speed to freeze the quickly moving players.

For landscapes, OS is invaluable, especially in marginal light conditions, unless you use a tripod, in which case you won't want to use OS.

Looks like THIS is the exact tipping point I need to let my 70-200mm F4 IS go for the Sigma OS. ;)

I've played with a couple of copies at my local camera store; I've also shot with my friend's Canon f/2.8 mk1. Even though the difference is miniscule, I would give the Sigma a slight advantage (take my opinion with a grain of salt).

The only problem is selling my F4 IS in Japan, which is where I'm currently at.
