Finally.
I won the Army Magazine 2011 Annual Photo Contest, first prize. Not a giant publication outside military families, its managed by the Association of the United States Army.
So, aside from the $500 which is going to help buy me a new iMac so I can stop editing on a 13" screen, I will be published in the November 2011 issue of Army Magazine, and supposedly I'm supposed to get published in a couple other places as part of the prize package. Also, it wasn't a rights grab contest, so I'm pretty happy with the win.
So, if you get a chance to find a copy of the magazine, that's me!
I think I've shared the winning picture before on here, but I wont spoil it by sharing it again until after its been published.
I actually had forgotten I had even entered when I got the phone call. I thought it was a prank at first. I didn't remember what picture it was until they sent me my own caption to elaborate on.
Anyhow, it isn't as cool as getting hired for nat geo or anything, but it is a start.
