Saw this on the Canon new products list. I was going to buy a Rebel Kit + 55-250mm for my brother as he wants to take on my hobby as well. How worth it would the II version be? Anyone else seen this or heard about it?

Nothing shows up on the forums that I searched, but I could be looking at the wrong stuff.

Yes, we've discussed the Mk II before. All that changed was the mount index - It's no longer a separate part, but painted on instead. Isn't that exciting?

So really I should'nt care, and save the 100+ dollars. Link to that thread for reading? I searched Nifty Two Fifty II, Canon 55-250mm II, and couldn't find it. Unless it was buried in the Lens Sample thread.

Note there was some initial confusion about the optics. They are in fact the same, Canon just flipped the MTF charts by mistake.
