I will be leaving next week for Windhoek for 30 days for work. Unfortunately, due to my work, my travel outside of Windhoek will be limited. I will be able to make weekend trips, but from everything I've read about Windhoek, that will not get me to many good place.

I'm seeking advice on 1) places/things/etc. to shoot inside Windhoek, and 2) worthy excursions that can be made in one to two day trips on the weekends for wildlife, tribal life, or landscape. Also, any other advice about safety, equipment security, or anything else. All will be much appreciated.

The Von Bach Dam nature reserve is not too far north and worth a look.....and the Daan Viljoen Game reserve is very close by. If you drive, remember to do it on the left-hand side of the road..lol

It's a big big shame that you can't get the time to go over to the coast....somewhere like Conception Bay to go and see the wreck of the Eduard Bohlen...or any of the many wrecks around the coast. The EB is so fascinating because it a long way inland of the sea now.

I'm envious of you going there....I know it's work, but have a great time!

*Edit*.....Oh, and be sure and take the advise of your own government's advisory information regarding security and travel etc.

Thank you, digidiva. I will definitely research these. I may try to return to Namibia/South Africa sometime next year depending on my experience this time around. But, while it does suck that I'm there for work, it's still better than working from the office. I should still get to experience the local culture, cuisine, etc.

Thanks again for the advice.
