I appreciate everyone's help on the CPL question. My last question (at least until I can think of another) is where to I want to position myself relative to the sun? Shooting somewhat into the sun? With the sun to my back? At a 90ish degree angle?

Thanks.

If you are going to use a CPL, it will have the most possible effect at a 90 degree angle to the sun.

It's usually best to make sure that at least one side of a car is illuminated by the sun.

Keeping the sun at your back is a useful guideline for much event photography, but it's not a hard and fast rule. Much depends on how cars are arranged, and car shows are set up for the participants, not for photographers.

That depends on where it will put highlights into the car, doesn't it? See the links in my Sig.
