Has anyone ever tried to migrate an XT machine to MS Virtual PC/XP32 that is an add on for Windows 7?
I just bought a W7 machine which came with the Virtual PC installed. I created an image of my old XP c:\ drive with Disk2VHD. Virtual PC seemed to recognize the VHD file, but It will not boot, just a black screen, not even the welcome screen.
The problem might be the fact that my old XP is OEM, and that the hardware profile is too different from the Virtual PC environment. Now, I am thinking of migration software/techniques, to move my data/settings/programs into the XP installation that is already part of Virtual PC, rather than cloning the disk and trying to boot that.
Has anyone successfully migrated to Virtual PC from XP? If so how/what did you use?
