Has anyone seen a soft translucent white line in the center of their picture from left to right and sometimes from the middle of the picture to the right side. What does this mean if and when you start seeing these lines through your images? I've never seen this before in all the years I've shot with my camera. Any suggestions?:o

Sounds like a shutter going out.

Well, it's certainly not "normal" unless there is a light source that is causing some flare, which can show up and get exacerbated if using a filter. But otherwise, it sounds like you have a problem...maybe, as was suggested, a shutter problem.

If you could post a couple sample images, it could help us to help you!

This soft light has been consistent even in low light condition. It started today and it is showing up in all photos taken with camera body with lenses 70mm-200mm f/2.8 IS and 100mm-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS lenses. Need serious advise soon!

Posts #2 and#3 were serious enough.

Shutter issues.

Send to Canon - BUT - before you do, take sample photos of the problem and send the files to Canon with the camera.

If you want more serious advise sooner, CALL Canon, talk to a Rep and EMAIL image samples to them.

Probably the shutter. Get it checked, whatever it is they'll fix it.

Okay! This problems is consistent from viewing display screen to visually viewing digital files on PC that will translate to prints. This is the first time I've seen this thing with my camera after owning it for many years. Will post picture later today.

Photoman are you even reading the responses? You seem to be re-wording the question in hopes of a different answer.

I have one, your camera is fine - the white streaks are God himself. I would hide the camera before Dan Brown needs to write a book about it.

Translucent White Line Through Center of Picture!

Need help fast to fix this problem. Is my CMOS sensor on it's last leg. It is fair to say I've used the sensor to about 60% of its life span. Any suggestions what is causing this soft white line in the middle of each photo on display screen or when viewing from PC?

White line is more excessive the faster the shutter speed set from 250-2500 and up. The faster the shutter the more intense the line, the lower the shutter speed the softer or more subtle line white line becomes.

Need an expert's advise immediately!

Thanks everyone!:o

Pics? How do you know how much of your sensor's lifespan you have used?

Didn't someone ask you to post up sample photos already on this issue?

From your description, it sounds like one of the curtains is dying. The sensor should be fine, it's the shutter that needs to be replaced/fixed.

Send it back to the mothership (Canon Irvine).

The white line is indicative of a failing shutter. When my 1Ds II's shutter was failing it was at the top of the frame. Personally I've never seen one in the middle of the frame, but I bet that's the issue. It also gets worse and worse the faster the shutter. Under 600ish on mine, the line wasn't even there, but above that you start to notice it.
