Straight from the "I could have done that (but you didn't)" category, I found a photographer named Stephen Wilkes.

On the right click "Fine Art" then, near the bottom of that list, "Day to Night".

Tripod mounted (I assume) shots taken in daylight and dusk (or night) then blended.

In addition to being taken by the beauty of the work, my first thought was "Oh, man! I should have thought of that!" Just goes to show that true inspiration, in retrospect, seems so obvious, but trying to think of something new and fresh is sooooo hard! Stephen Wilkes, my hat is off to you!

Cool stuff, I agree! He definitely does a great job of the blending, making it look like one scene!

Besides that amazing stuff, check out his portfolio and check out the Gulf disaster remnants and the Katrina aftermath......moving to say the least.

I bookmarked his site, he is awesome!

I thought of doing that some time ago, and actually made an attempt using our local church as a subject. It was only as it got dark that I realised that the church doesn't get lit up at night, making the whole exercise a waste of time. :(

I've been looking for a suitable alternative subject ever since.
