I attached two 2x teleconverters to my MP-E-65 to achieve a total magnification ratio of 20:1. I was photographing grains of salt and after looking at the pictures on the camera's display, I noticed an extremely tiny mite looking thing.

As you can see, the mite (or whatever it is) is in focus in both shots which leads me to think that the mite may have found its way inside the lens/teleconverters.

According to my math, the mite seems to be somewhere around 0.029mm in length.

I was wondering if you guys think I should be worried about the mite being inside my lens or either of the teleconverters (or if this theory even makes sense). Thanks for looking.

Also, I posted this in the picture sharing section because I think it's still pretty cool to see.

Yes there are mites that small and smaller(!). But I think it is on the camera sensor in these photos. Lens was stopped well down, right? That's how I check for sensor dust, eh? Looks vital and alive too -- who knows where it is now?

Yeah, I was also thinking it was on the sensor, as it looks very similar to sensor dust.

The photos were taken at f/2.8 but with the two 2x teleconverters, it becomes f/11.2.
