Great shots. Wish I could have made it, I was at Daytona's and it was amazing.

Credentialed.

From behind the fence one can probably get pretty close to the same corkscrew shots, it would be about another 15 or so feet back plus 3 to 5 feet higher up the berm. If one were a spectator I think a 70-200 with a 1.4 TC or a 300 would work. From where I stood I was happy using my 7D+70-200 IS II, though I wouldn't have minded a 1.4 converter at times. A lot of the other credentialed guys were carrying around bigger lenses, though. I was also credentialed for the Rolex Historics this year and brought a 500 F4L. I never really found a groove with it, it felt like too much lens for my style. But I've only been to Laguna twice now so I just might not have found the right spot for a lens like that. At other tracks I could totally see using a 500 or 600 as a go-to lens.

@FStop7 it's not the size of the lens, it's how you use it :)

Great intel, thanks !

I was there with a 7D (just got it so still very much in a learning mode) and a 70-200 but no TC. I'm still working through my photos but mine don't come close to these. Very nice work - something for me as an amateur to work towards. bw!
