I have my money, my wife has hers, and we have ours. I don't tell her what to do with her money, she doesn't tell me what to do with mine. On the "ours", we decide. Of course I, often, surprise her with a gift.

As to the OP, I used to think the 70-200 was heavy and stopped taking it out. Then I quickly realized what I was missing and it now rarely is off my camera.
I've gone out in NYC and shot all day with my former 100-400 and it wasn't too long. It's actually a great challenge to go out with only one lens and make it work.
