Which sounds odd that they'd have a colour-aware AF system, which also forces you to only work with only human faces

Well...think about it, humans are generally a very different color from the background...a lot of birds are similar colors to many backgrounds (For camoflage) it might be that the colour-aware system slows the camera down or some bollocks...who knows...

I don't know. It seems to me that humans come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. Maybe it's a lot more complicated than we're making it out to be...

I'm doing good. 48 hours have gone by and I still haven't called.

I should think a phone call that begins with "Hi, I'd like to give you $6800..." should get their attention!

It's too late now. I'm sure if I tried calling tomorrow, I'm like #7001 on the wait list at Adorama. And since Canon only plans to make 7000/months... I'm already a month behind.

Yes, and alot of those skin colors and shapes and sizes are different from the general backgrounds you are photographing x3

Birds, less so

Its probubly not a real reason however...might be easier to optimize it to pick out a human being against a background compared to a bird..Humans are generally larger than birds...or that maybe the technology is too limited at the moment to really work correctly with other subjects
