Is it me ... but I think the 1D4 is still a better sports camera ? The 1.3 crop factor is useful in motorsport scenarios. I would sooner have seen a 21MP full frame body that can also operate at high speed/crop factor mode (as per Nikon)

I think I'd soon have 1D4 and a 5D2, but I do like that the fact the dual cards are of the same format (both CF)

... prepared to be shot down now ... ;-)a

Somebody posted that the difference between 16Mp @ APS-H and 18MP @ FF works out to be a loss of about 500 pixels on the long side.

That's really not much file size loss for 2 more FPS (if you want to use 12fps), two stops cleaner ISO and a lot of other bells and whistles.

I think that's more than enough.
18mpixels at 12fps is a lot of data....
2 stops cleaner is a lot.

It doesn't say whether it is the lamented amalgamated range of sensor i.e. whether you could select either ff/1.3 or 1.6

I don't think that's an option...

Like it or not, we're kind of going back to the "good old days" when the medium that snagged photons was all the same size...

(MF and LF folks notwithstanding...)

- Why 18 MP? Resolution matters for the 1Ds' intended market, and this is supposed to replace the 1Ds
- What's the 14 FPS jpg for?
- Why announce a camera five months before release?

Otherwise, it looks great.

Camera is very impressive, shame that only law enforcements, government etc get ISO 50-204,800. That's just crazy lol. However 100-51200 still sounds sweet. Can't wait to get my hands on it and check it out for myself.

How was there no prediction for this? Everyone is so focused on October 26th and November 3rd. What about October 17? Haha anyway...

Looks like a wonderful camera. 12FPS from an 18mp ff sensor will please many many people.

Not what I expected. And at close to 7,000 will never be buying it.

My 1d4 was a stretch...no way I can justify this beast...I guess 1D4 is my last stop on the 1D line...
