Stashpix
Ha ha kfreels, your assumption isn't totally crazy. That language could probably be tweaked.
The stash creator can always see the contents of his own stashes, anywhere in the world. You can also see the contents of any stash that you contribute to. So, for example, if you post a stash at a cafe in Amsterdam, you will always be able to see what people add to it. Kind of like planting a Web cam everywhere you go, albeit only for stills.
Also, Stashpix stores a full-quality version of each picture to your library, so there's no quality compromise in taking the pictures with the app.
The nice part is that there's no BS with logging in, giving up personal info, or bloated social networks. You fire the app up and see what's there.
Disclosure: I wrote it. We're always looking for feedback and suggestions! Such as:

This would maybe be neat if you could stash pics straight from your DSLR and still take them with you
I too would love to have that function, and spent some time thinking about how to get it. I sometimes work as a photographer, and would prefer to post high-quality pictures taken with long lenses and so forth. The main impediment to this feature is Apple's lockdown of the dock port. The workaround would be Apple's Camera Connection Kit. Android does not suffer from this problem, and there are at least a couple of options for interfacing with cameras from Android devices.
I also considered trying the SD cards that have built-in Wi-Fi transmitters. Unfortunately, the reviews I've read of them are quite poor, and many people report losing images entirely. That's clearly not worth the risk.
There are a couple of point-&-shoots with built-in Wi-Fi and phone apps, so people could use those today.
Our next platform is Android, to be sure. As much of the app as possible is written to be cross-platform, but it still takes a long time to write reliable software. We needed to gauge the interest level before developing for another platform.
We have a new version coming shortly, to take advantage of some iOS 5 features (like being able to have one anonymous account across multiple devices and control all your stashes from all devices), and with some UI improvements.
