Some of the gear my son uses for football is rented so, before we had to return it, I convinced him to gear up one last time for some photos.

It was cold and windy but I'm happy with what we were able to get.

It would be great if you could shoot these on a football field to get background enhancements like goal posts, goal markers, yard markers, etc. I like the shots a lot.

Thanks for the feedback. We have a few football fields in town, but the main field is locked. The others have homes, highways, power lines, etc., in the background that I didn't want to include.

I like them. Lighting is a bit hot so I think I would have stopped down to f4 or even 5.6. IT would work here since you weren't trying to get ambient balance anyway. #4 and 6 are my favorites.

I agree the lighting is pretty cool/interesting. My fav is #6 - great focus on the eyes.

What was your lighting method? I like it.

I like #6, great shot. Were you aiming the light up at his face or level with the face?

Thanks. I used an AB400 camera left and an AB800 camera right, both with silver PLMs. I tried them bare for a harsh look first but didn't like the shadows from the face mask so I threw the PLMs on.

I also shot through two ND filters, a 2-stop and a 3-stop, so I could shoot wide aperture and keep my shutter speed at or below 1/200.

Towards the end of the shoot (due to fighting with high winds) I took the PLM off the AB400 and shot it bare. The PLM on camera right was centered just above his eye level.
