Been trying to find some photogs up in this neck of the woods to go shoot with. Where are you all?

Hiding from the mosquitoes. Some of us will probably be at St. Augustine when they have their Spring birding event.

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

When is that (obviously the Spring but you know what I mean)? I'm not really a birder but would love to join in and meet other photogs and shoot some birds. :)

Here's a list. I keep thinking I'll go to the one in St Augustine, usually based at the Alligator Farm. But I have wonderful spots by me south of Daytona Beach as you do in the tidal areas around Jax.

I'm relatively new to FL (been here a little over a year) and I do agree there's lots of great shots to shoot all over the place. I've just been looking for other photogs to help show me the best spots. :)

Thanks!!

We have a little known jewel called Spruce Creek State Park. It has two great observation areas, depending on tide and rainfall (sometimes the paths and access get flooded). You can see bald eagle, osprey, white (depending on season) and brown pelican, woodpeckers, herons, egrets, kingfishers, gulls, ibis, hawks, anhingas, wood storks, song birds and some you might hear but rarely see, like rails. Then there are dolphins, possibly manatees.

There are two well established bald eagle nesting sites, one in Holly Hill and the other in New Smyrna Beach. The county dump attracts eagles looking for rats (good for eagles in flight, not so much for when they get low enough for the dump to be in the background), but deer can also be seen in the woods near the dump. Wild turkeys and sand hill cranes abound in the interior.

South of New Smyrna you come into roseate spoonbill territory and south of there is the Merritt Island National Wildlife Reserve, where all of the above plus alligators are within easy view, and more wading birds.

Wow! Thanks for the comprehensive list! I'll have to get out and start exploring again now that the summer heat is over. :)

I do enjoy hiking and looking for interesting wildlife, etc to photograph.
