Nice shot of the 2 clouds! How did the timelapse fail?

i was doing a shot from out of the cave though the hole up to where this shot was taken.

setup all good went back after two hours to see the cart still at the bottom the gear had slipped off the belt :(

this was a shot before to see what the final position would be :)

^^ That is pretty unusual. Most of the Milky-way shots that I have seen are shot on moonless nights.

Very nice!

Thanks Archer and Harry! This was the first time I've tried shooting the Moon and Milky Way together, and it seems to work quite well (as long as you catch the Moon when it is just a thin crescent).

Cheers,
Stephen

I was out enjoying the crystal clear night sky, and watching the Orionids. I set up to take some shots, and decided to try and obtain a glow to back light an old windmill, capture part of the milky way and then used a flashlight to paint the front of the windmill to obtain clear contrast. I played with exposures, and angles...this shot was one of the best for the night.

Did I mention I am a night owl??? LOL

You sure that's the moon? I've never seen the moon so small. Look live Venus to me.

It certainly is the Moon Dave. It looks small because it's shot at 11mm!

It can't be Venus because this was an evening image, whereas Venus is currently only visible in the morning sky (as you can see in this imagetaken a few days earlier :)).

Cheers,
Stephen
