Milkyway nightscapes

Took a spur of the moment trip when I saw the skies were clear finally

It was cloudy the entire time in Death Valley this weekend and even rained, but at last it cleared for an hour before sunrise on Sunday I shot this at Zabriskie point.

I'm looking for some feedback / advice on the 2 edits of this panoramic milky way shot.

Not sure I'm 100% happy with it, I just can't make up my mind and will continue having a play with it.

2 rows of 7 shots. I did take a 3rd row, but it didn't stitch together well at all and knocking the top row off worked a treat.

This is from Bombo Quarry in Kiama, Wollongong, Australia. A7mkii with Samyang 24mm F1.4 iso 3200 13 seconds per shot.

One thing I'd try doing is opening the image in Photoshop, if you have it, and try warping the top of the shot to get the stars back into somewhat normal shapes. That part is a little distracting. Also do some vignetting correction, unless you were intentionally doing it, I'm just not a fan of the "tunnel vision" that vignetting causes.

Made a one-night trip to Caprock Canyons in west Texas last Thursday night, got clear skies and a nice chance to use the new 12mm fisheye. Really nice lens, great for capturing the arc.

Thank you, I'll give that a go tonight. I did put the vignette in on purpose to try and darken it down a litte, but will certainly take it out for a look

Great captures , love the edit ! How long did you stay at the state park and how did you like it ? I been to Palo Duro Canyon just north of there and it's also very nice but I wasn't there at night , just a day trip .

Here is one from 5-8, the sky was mostly clear but there was haze above the lake which affected effectively blocked the light close to the horizon. Was pretty cool to get Mars and Saturn in the shot.

Really gives you an idea of how bright the light pollution from Salt Lake is even though it's quite a ways a way, and the brightness on the right side of the image is caused by the light pollution from that small city.

I've enjoyed several of the shots you posted on the site - but really love that last one with the lightning too! Obviously a bit different from the Milky Way theme in this thread, but I had to comment on it also being an awesome photo!

Still working through a massive lot of pictures from my New Zealand trip, but I did get through some of the Milky Way shots. What an incredible and breath-taking country, no wonder all of you Kiwi photographers are so good!
Inspired by all of Mack's wonderful images - I had to get a shot of #ThatWanakaTree!

I rarely get night skies to shoot the milky way, so it's hard to improve when opportunities are few and far between; however, I noticed that the tree itself is rather out of focus on most of my shots. I'm also not sure if the green hue is an effect from light pollution, or if there were some low level aurora events that evening.
Question - for a single image shot do you guys focus to infinity or set your lens to hyperfocal distance?
