Next to it is the same scene w/o light painting. What's the group's feeling about the light painting: Do you think it adds or distracts in this case? If anyone be interested in the technical details on how this light painting was done, just click on the above photo and scroll through the details... Here in the UK we see it extremely rarely. In many years of offshore sailing at night, absolutely no light pollution miles out to sea I reckon I can count the number of times I've seen it on the fingers of one hand. And even then for maybe 20 minutes or so before its gone! Richard

And even then for maybe 20 minutes or so before its gone! I feel very blessed. Our Utah air is much drier. We have a greater number of clearer nights (one of the few benefits of living in a desert). Then there's the light pollution factor: England's population density of 395/km2 (1,023/sq mi) is about 12 times greater than the United States, and 30 times greater than my home state of Utah! Did you shoot this from the road? Yes, Tony, I shot from a location that was about 100 feet from the road. Here is a map of my location and lights Royce Bair, Editor

Thanks Todd. I have put this in other places but I was a little lazy about processing. I need to "fix" those other places It's hard to solve an equation if every term is an unknown.

I was wondering how dark it would be there. Nice shot of an Auckland summer icon. "Treat every photon with respect" - David Malin.

Definitely good place for this sort of shots and not that far from the city.
