I thought I would try some Astro Photography.
Northern New Mexico US. Nothing special about the foreground, just the front yard.
Processed in DXO, finished with Affinity Photo.

I wish the sky would be a little darker but otherwise, very nice one with great composition.

The Warkworth concrete factory. Its now a ruin, but a great place to shoot astro. Awesome that this is only 40 minutes from downtown Auckland :)

Thanks mate yep the sky was tracked! That particular location would've been better at low tide so can get closer to the dolphin rock but that might be last chance of the season to shoot MW rising so decided to go for it anyway.

I actually got hit by rogue wave that night too haha.

Quite happy with how it turned out considering I was shooting in borderline Bortle 4-5 sky too!

This shot makes me want to come to Australia! :-) I'm so jealous of your dark skies, topography and abandoned ruins!

If you haven't heard of Richard Tatti, you should look him up on YouTube. He is from your neck of the woods and is a nightscape photographer. Very informative and inspirational.

I'll look him up, this one is in New Zealand :P We both get some amazing dark skies though.

Trust me when I say I am probably more jealous of all the amazing landscapes you guys have over there than you are of our dark skies lol!

Haven't had much luck with the Milky Way yet. This was from a week ago at Bodie Lighthouse (Nags Head, NC). The seeing wasn't the greatest as the sky ended up too hazy, but I am looking forward to trying again.

I've just been linked to this Photopills video about shooting the full moon rising behind the Auckland sky tower.
I've already shot this picture, but will be trying again for sure if the weather is right.
At the 4.25 mark on the map the red line is showing where the best spot to shoot from is. I live pretty much on the little number 18 just to the right of it :) Woot, won't have to go far from home to get this one. I'll look at hiring the 100-400 Sony lens for this day now.

Here's a shot I got last year from a little bit closer to town. This was with my 70-200, so I hope to get a better version of it this time :)
