The Perseid Shower didn't work out for me, but the hotel where I stayed had a dark sky area and on-site decorations, like this windmill.

Last night was clear and we are getting to the end of Milky Way season here in Northern Ontario, Canada, so went for a little shoot over a local lake. Tried out the 14mm & 20mm. Haven't used the 14mm in a long time, kinda got stuck on the 20mm lately.

Also took a 55mm for something different.

WOW!!!

Thank you sir! The Big Bend region of Texas is one of the few remaining Dark Sky regions in the country. In recent years the flaring from well drilling is ruining the night skies in surrounding areas... I'm not the kind of fellow to even possibly think that we need more government regulation, but the fact that we can't simply see look up and enjoy the night sky is somewhat tragic. Of course, when I flip a switch on the wall I get lights and A/C, right.

We can blame Thomas Edison for not being able to see a good night sky in MOST of the USA, and also the rest of the world!

A bit of a cliché shot. Badwater Basin, Death Valley National Park. This is a stack of 11 photos using Sequator, each photo being 15 seconds long at f/2.8.

One more from Death Valley. This is the remains of the mill that was located next to the Eureka Mine.

A little history of the mine: http://cali49.com …eka-mine-death-valley-cal (external link)

According to that version, the mill served the Cashier Mine. Other information calls the entire area the Eureka Mine, so I don't know which is correct. Regardless, the area is very interesting to explore. I must admit, I'm disappointed that I didn't see the old car mentioned in the article. I guess that I'll have to make another trip.

This is a stack of 9 15-second exposures using Sequator.

Beautiful photo of the night sky.
Interesting reading. Thanks for the link.
