Well it took me 4 days of searching on Amazon for a light that's around 2700-3200 kelvin. You want WARM light. 99.9% of what you'll find for lights online are too blue or too high kelvin.

The other option are LED panels, so some are doing those for night setup, where you can adjust each panels kelvin temp and brightness as well as operating them remotely. I've not gone to that extent however.

All this time & I didn't realise we had a Milky Way thread :rolleyes:

Sorry.....!!

I'll have to have a good catch up back through tomorrow at some point.

Anyway, two of my earlier ones from 2019....

I think these were both with the Samyang 24/1.4 adapted to the Sony A7.

Very nice!!

Thank you. For early attempts I'm pretty happy with them.

Star trails on film - First attempt obviously!

Lessons learnt, already made changes to shooting the next roll.

PS Can this image go in here? I had a quick look but couldn't find a 'star trails' or general 'night skies' thread.....

Anyone try n get comet Leonard? I tried/failed lastnight.... it's extremely dim; I couldn't even find it until I did some long exposures... It's one of those that you need a tracker (I don't have) and have to do the 30 exposures game...

Thank you. I've already taken more hopefully resolving the light leak issue (which is from the led light meter in the viewfinder!)

Didn't even attempt it which is a shame after Neowise. I don't think we've even had clear skies for it anyway.

Yeah I've seen some decent stuff online but the full moon didn't help lastnight even with ultra dark skies here in Utah = nothin; I think it may be dimming more now than earlier

I'm pretty sure that it's not even above the horizon here anymore. Or if it is above, its a few degrees!

So the only thing that even "seemed" like it would be a comet was away from Venus, to the lower left... not sure if I'm off on the sky map or what the deal is... This was just a longer exposure simply to see what was out there...
