Wow that looks great. Can I see the original unprocessed?

Pkim, have you taken any Milky Way shots yet? I see you bought your lenses, would love to see what you shot with them.

I haven't had a chance to drive out of the city yet. Light pollution is terrible here. Just lurking the forums for now, trying to absorb all the information :)

Have you checked out ClearDarkSkies.com? Light pollution in New Jersey is horrible at best, this site really helped with some very do-able locations. I'm on vacation & just used it to find a great place, less than 2 miles away, to do some nightscapes.

Thanks but I'm not in the states anymore. I'm in South Korea. I have to search for Korean sites and blogs to get recommendations for dark sites and they are usually at least three hours away from Seoul.
I'll be going on a road trip at the end of the month, so I'm marking locations I want to visit.
I miss Rhode Island!! I'll be sure to use that site when I'm back in the states. It seems really useful.

Do you know of good sites for Europe?

My first serious attempt using a 5D3 and Samyang 14mm f2.8 25 sec. Taken in Sedona, Az. When zoomed in, the stars look like Xmas ornaments, I guess this was a result of mis-focus?

Hopefully I can get out more and practice.

I tried in the Schwarzwald (Black Forrest) and it worked rather well. There was still some light pollution but less than where I usually go.

I didn't know exactly where you were in Germany but now that I've checked, yes, you may be looking for something closer. ;) But for my defense, you asked "in Europe" so...

Just try to get away from cities and look for a place where there's no light pollution in the direction that you'll be shooting. If the Milky is South - South-West then try to look for a place without big cities in that direction.
