Last Saturday, I was finally able to get with 2 very good friends of mine and take photos of them for their recent engagement. Due to Adam, the groom to be's, work schedule and traveling for his job, his time at home is limited. Not to mention the string of wet weather we had when he was home and had free time.

These are the two "best" images from that afternoon. So far the couple and their friends and family have received the photos really well. My only gripes, which are things that I can definitely change are 1) posing, 2) working with light better, 3) my post processing method(s).

Please comment and critique. Let me have it, I've got thick skin. :-)

This last one is one that I would like to have had better lighting for. Before the couple arrived I was having the WORST time with my pocket wizards and 580 flash. Turns out, it was just the batteries...of which I had plenty of extras. I just got much too flustered and nervous to even consider that possibility because I charged ALL my batteries he night before.

the crops seem a little off to me
1 cut off his head and too far left
2 uncentered
3 too tight on the sides

they all can use a little more fill and the last is too uneven

Nice sharing here... so far, your crop does seems a little off. Therefore try to show the background more a bit. Looking from the picture, your objects are isolated enough from the background(isolated by the blur/bokeh). Dont be shy to show some background and how nice it is.

I think they look good. Seems very much "them"... they seem bookish.

I would have adjusted the crop to include his head and added some time of fill light/bounce to their right to fill in some of those dark areas.

Keep up the good work!
