During the parade, donot stay with your wife and kids, shoot from across the street from them, this way you can compose your shots to include your family with the characters, float. (same technique inside boat rides, thake the opposite or behind them) same for some of the shows. 2. Fireworks, I stll have my 35 mm slide show of the fireworks I took in 1976...I am sure you know how to shoot fireworks on tripods and long exposure if not at bulb. Select a vantage point that will let you shoot wide with Cinderella's castle in the foreground. 3.night shots and stage lit pictures ay require fast lens and high iso. Take family picture with iconic backgrounds as the Castle etc, thus would need selftimer on tripod. great tips tony. i will apply them when the chance comes

My kids are 18 and 10 i doubt they even watch a parade anymore, sometimes we do at night but not everytime. We go every year so parades are just traffic jams to us. lol I do want to do a panoramic view from the train station Tony, got any links or help on that. I'm looking at 7 photos and i dont think i'll have a monopod in time so hand held or sitting on a handrail. Handhold and do a panoramic. There shouldn't be any issues.

Oct 28, 2011 12:23 | #3201 I'd say 90% of my panoramics are all handheld, usually 10-14 shots in each:

jetta-the-hut wrote in post #13320847 awesome shots Harm! so its a good idea to take 10-14 and find a focal point in the viewfinder to start your second photo, then the 3rd,4th ect.. and the go back up top if they are big, like the castle? Yup - I even use a CPL much to people's dismay, but it does the job. Find a good focal point - even if it is using AF. I sweep left to right, overlapping by a good 30-40%. Take plenty of photos, double each photo (cause when you go home and you **** up one shot, you have a backup to finish the pano). DTBaan wrote in post #13320874 awesome shots harm. my fav was the castle because im a fan of fantasy other then that.. my fav panny was Niagara. That castle - the innards were used in the Harry Potter movies. Alwnick Castle. About 30mins drive north of where I grew up.
