Many times I like the small size of the 5D without the grip specially when I travel or attach the camera to the telescope, so if I get the 1Dx, I will keep the 5D2 for travel and astrophotography, but if 5D3 has 30 megapixel, then it will be the 5D3. The 7D goes to son or granddaughter.

Fricks - good on you for having a good hobby. That's the beauty of this habit, it doesn't matter if you're 4, 15, 30 50 or 100 - I was in my early teens when i first got into photography (back in the film days) and it's something you can get a lot out of. Don't worry about not getting the newest gear too much though - got to look forward to something right?

My boy's nearly 5 and having a crack already (see avatar). When he wakes up he'll probably have another go with the 60D - will post results later, or in the next few days....

Hi Roger...thinking of driving to Soccorro NM to shoot the radio telescopes and maybe pass thru Pikes observatory too..hope snow does not ome early.

You also have to consider the wimberly head, plates, etc. if business is good next year, I just might.
