A couple of months ago, I was able to borrow canon's 200L IS - I fell in love with its image quality and in-your-face design. As many of you know, canon released a new 1D camera. For many, including myself, it is the answer to our prayers.

So if you had a nice chunk of change in your pocket, which would it have to be?

Tough choice. I recently purchased the 200 and absolutely love it. Slap on a 1.4x and its as near equal to the 300 2.8 as you can get (a sharp fast 280mm f2.8 with excellent IS).

1Dx AND 200L IS!! ;)

On a serious note, if the 1Dx is the answer to your prayers, then I would go with that.

I can't even imagine the ISo capabilities of a 51k ISo. I wonder how comfortable I would be to push this cameras ISo level. Im okay with 1250 on the 5dii.

I'd get the 1DX since I already have the 200 F2 but if I didn't, it would be the glass.

20 year old 200 1.8 glass is still sought after and sexy. It also holds its value well. I want a 1Dx but I would never trade my 200 for it.

I am actually hoping that Canon will release a successor to the current 60D with a sensor matching or even exceeding the one in Nikon D7000 and Pentax K5. The dynamic range and shadow noise performance of the recent Canon aps-c sensors are just awful with my 50D being the worst. The new 1D seems very very nice but it's size and weight scares me. I am also saving up for a 200L IS but I want to use it with a relatively compact body either a 60D or it's replacement.

4 years from now the 200 f/2.0 will be worth close to what you paid for it. The 1Dx will be worth 1/2

You asked: Glass or body.

The answer is: Glass.

We have seen this question before. But this is a more difficult variation than usual :-)
