Hey everyone. This is my first time attempting anything like this and I am wondering how I did. Lots of experimentation. Lots of learning to do. Both were shot with 5D MkII, EF 17-40 f/4L, and 430 EXII off camera.

I am looking for advice on lighting, poses, location, composition. One thing I learned is shooting at night is so hard lol. Anyway enjoy!

i really like the second one. i think if some light was on his back side it would keep his torso from disapearing into the backround. or perhaps if you had been about a foot to the right?

i can still dig it tho ;)

The colors got pretty screwed up on this one. The original JPG looks fine but it lost a lot going to Flickr. Not really sure why...

Here is the second one but with a couple more edits. Im really surprised as to how much detail I pulled from that photo...

#1 from the new ones you posted is awesome. i like the perspective from the wide angle lens

*at least people comment on your shots. mine usually get looked over or maybe one comment that says 'cool' but nothing constructive that helps me know what works and what doesnt.

I really like the perspective on these. They are perhaps missing a little sense of motion, in my opinion.

Thanks! And yes I know. Thats the part that really bugs me. I have to play around with shutter speeds a bit more next time. I think I can nail it with a little experimentation.

I agree with orena you should turn the flash down to reduce the intensity of the shadow. All the same. Nice job.

I really like these, especially #3. #1 would've been the best, but is just a bit too tight. Nice to see some longboarding cropping up in here now; can't wait to see more!! :D

A cool idea. I have always had this picture in my head of an awesome mountain road with big sloping u bends with a longboarder carving nice and low around the corner.
