Thanks all!

This was actually in my "not-for-show" category, because the composition just didn't seem to be working at all, but then I noticed that maybe with a 8x10 crop (there was a bunch of clutter and waste to the right side of the frame) and a little vignette and dodge and burn to connect the eye-line between the soldier and the elder, it really is a great moment and graphically interesting image.

Wow. Thank you for sharing this!!

I just got a new 27" iMac, so I'm bit by bit going through all the photos I had from Afghanistan, which were all done on a little 13" macbook in a poor editing environment.

I'm re-doing a few but mostly I'm noticing that some of the ones I didn't think were any good can still work given the right crops and treatment.

Hopefully more to come!
