I mean that. I don't post here since I don't shoot weddings and engagements (I"m a sports shooter primarily). In any case, I have lurked around this board for a while trying to a) learn b) get some inspiration and c) calm my nerves before doing the shoot. Yeah, I was really nervous. Put me in a photo well with 40,000+ screaming fans behind me and no worries but this...this shoot was waaaay out of my comfort zone. I did the entire shoot with just my 70-200. Light was very flat for the most part which lessened some of the more dynamic lighting scenarios I had in mind but also gave me nice consistent light with few harsh shadows.

Exif should be intact on all of these. While I don't really plan on doing another one anytime soon (or ever as I don't advertise myself as this type of shooter), I'd love some crit on any of the images. Thanks again for the inspiration. You guys (and ladies, of course) do some wonderful and challenging work.

Skin looks weird in the last one. Looks like you pushed the recovery tool too far. You can see where the hot spot is on her forehead. I would bump the exposure back up looks weird!

Thanks Nick, I'll rework that one a bit.

Thanks cam ad tony. the deer was classic. Liz seemed fine with it but I think Eric was a touch on the nervous side. The thing wound up about 4-5' away by the time we finished that spot and seemed far more curious than scared. Pretty wild and unexpected for sure.

3 is overexposed.
Really dig 4, though might go B+W here simply because of the lack of color + possibility to push the texture.

Overall critique: usually with these kinds of shoots we emphasize quality over quantity. I tend to give back about 20-30 finished photos. Because of this we should spend extra time looking at the details. Some of the images here could do with a bit of touchup (the white spots on the man's shirt in 1,2,6; the hair hanging from her shirt in 8 just to start).

thanks very much for that, its the kind of info I can really use. in sports, you tend to keep things as photojournalistic as possible (in many cases, anything more than crop, straighten, sharpen is considered unethical). I'll make sure to break that habit with these types of images and really dive into the little things. I'll try the b/w conversion on the 4th shot and see how it looks.

FYI, I think I gave them about 110 shots or so when it was all said and done. I'd much rather pick 20-30 and really work them over. Again, thanks much, I really appreciate it.
