Figures, the one day I'm swamped with work and unable to visit the site B&H has a few big lee stoppers. Hope my local store gets their shipment soon!

Is there a good reason to purchase that circular polarizer over getting the lee adapter and putting a screw in one on the front? Side from the obvious difference in prices? Wouldn't the screw in be more versatile?

I'm sure there's more new hidden in stock goodies over there once you search, but those 3 have been hard to find and are in stock right now.

My big stopper came yesterday. My buddy got his from 2filter a couple of weeks ago
so I figured a shipment would be here soon. I also have one ordered from 2filter which I've been waiting 5 months for. Luckily had an early day of shooting at work and was back in my building the rest of the day when I saw BH had them. Ordered that sucker as quick as i could:) So much better than the hitech I got to hold me over.

the 105mm version vignettes around 20mm. So not only is it more expensive it's LESS usable. The only down side with the panel is you're stuck using it at whatever angle you need for your GNDs, but I've yet to notice an issue with that. I LOVE mine.

Nice, I have a friend who's had one on order since March with Adorama and still hasn't gotten his. I texted him about these and he grabbed one. Was your hitech 10 the new version or the old? If it's the new one can you share some comparisons?

I have the newer hitech that was supposed to have the magenta cast fixed. It did but I feel like it just sucked way more contrast and color out than the big stopper does. I'm gonna go shooting Saturday and try to use it so ill post some comparison shots. I feel the hitechs fine for black and whites but its just hard to work with the color images.

*edit*
Here is a link to a black and white image from the hitech. I got a lot of detail back but couldn't for the life of me get a color image to look right

^ all I see is a black image? Either way, I had the old HiTech and couldn't agree more. Everything I used it on went B&W. But the reviews I'd seen on the new version looked promising. The one thing the Lee does is it's a bit blue/cool where the new hitech is a tad warmer. You can correct both in post supposedly, but I already have the lee and it's been working for me so I'm certainly NOT switching.

Link might be fixed. Doing all this from my phone as I've been sitting in my work van all freaking morning : ) it took me about 1 minute to color correct lees. I haven't been able to get hitechs right at all but it may just be me. I would not waste the money on the hitech again and if anyone is considering getting one until they can grab a big stopper i'd say don't waste the money and just be patient.

Interesting, I haven't noticed any vignetting with the 105, not at anything like 24 anyway. I know it will under 20 though. I'm pretty sure I've used it with my 21 and not had a problem.

Doesn't make your point less valid, it IS very expensive and does have its limits. If I had it to do over again I'd probably go with the panel.

i have the newer hitech also and after using it on trips to pescadero, santa cruz, and yosemite, I'm not that happy with it. i've been using my b&w 10 stop alt more because of this.

sorry, you're right, it does NOT vignette on a 24-70, but it does on a 17-40 somewhere around 20mm. Can't remember where. A friend owns one and told me the 24mm, but I remember thinking that was crazy and tried it on my 17-40 and couldn't see it until I zoomed in a bit (from 24).

Ok maybe a dumb question. I have the basic Lee digital starter kit plus the Big stopper. I don't really get to use it that often but is there much reason to get the 4x4 cpl? I have a screw on CPL and I have been thinking of doing more hand holding a square GND over the top of it.

it's a PITA to use a screw on CP with a filter holder or to hand hold a GND over the CP. You can do it, but it's a PITA. Since I switched to the panel last year I don't think I've taken a landscape that hasn't used the CP...

Thanks for the heads up! Just ordered a replacement for my broken 4x4 CPL and added a 0.9 soft GND.
