I'm willing to be wrong, but I think that's in Afghanistan, so posing locals is probably not on the list of things to do, and may not be entirely safe.

I like the photo, and the others shown by OP.

Yeah it was very on the fly. I wasn't really there just to take pictures, I just took what I could as I was going about my business.

I'm starting to pick up on photoshop more, so I may give a whack at some cropping and cloning to get the little guy by himself if I can.

The little guy isolated with that expression and deflated ball is a seriously good photo. It tells a story like few images ever will be able to. It does that anyway, but the bigger kid definitely takes some focus away.

This one worked very well, just had to fill in a bit of the near kids face

For some reason content aware didn't want to play so nice with my B&W version, it is a little messier in that corner:
