Just back from a couple of days up the West coast of Scotland. Already posted these in the G series forum, but thought I'd try them here as well. A couple of months ago I downsized from 30D and assorted lenses because they were too unwieldy to carry around places like this. The G12 was the replacement, and it's impressed me with its quality since I made the switch. Places like these, in fading light as it was, are a real test but it's still producing comparable results to my old EOS.

Been hoping to get a good picture of Liathach for about ten years now, I couldn't have been happier with the way the light was when I got there.

Beinn Alligin, Torridon

Subject matter is great, but I think I would have pushed things for about 2 more stops, certainly no less than 1, to improve a bit on details.

The last picture is great. I took it to Photoshop and brought the white point to the histogram ... and ... added a tonal contrast and the picture just popped.

Yeah, I see what you mean, but I didn't want them over-bright because Bright and Scotland don't usually go :). Anyway, brightened up Liathach and Buachaille Etive Mor. Couldn't do any more with the others without destroying the skies because of the way the light was, but I think you were right :)

Actually, they don't look that much brighter :D

I'll just have to drive back up there and get them in the morning instead :)

Like the edit, opened up the greens a bit, gives it a bit more depth

OP. Nice set of captures, like the comp in most of them, but they are a bit dark and lacking in tonal value.

It's a good few years since I posted here, having been through G12 then Micro Four Thirds then Sony RX100. I got fed up of everything and went back to where I started, a 30D but replaced the 17-85 I used to use with the Sigma 17-70. Just back from another trip to Torridon which was its first proper run out, so it felt right to start posting here again :)
