A 400+ mile round trip today for some tasty FA Cup action. Essex outfit Grays defeated York City to earn a place in the 2nd Round of the competition. Here are some of the images:

A flawed attempt to be creative at the same match... this is what happens when you put your camera on the ground... I just don't do creative

Gavin , As allways these are stunning . I was shooting local sports yesterday but I lost the light about 4.15 and shooting at 1000 @ 2.8 @ 1600 iso, got them them back to the computer and I suppose they are ok but not brilliant .

In a previous thread you mentioned on changing the focus point on the the fly . Do you have any advice on this.

Cheers
Roy

These were pretty much my thoughts when I opened the thread, most likely the best set I've seen from you so far, glad to see the long slog was worth it. No doubt your getting comfy in front of the box for the draw a little later ;)

Gavin - As others have said this is an exceptionally good series -- I especially like the shots of the two managers. Superb work as usual.

Jerry ~ Baseball is a game where only defensive players handle the ball and offensive players who hit successfully in only one third of their at bats are among the best in the sport.

Man - you hooked me. Had no interest in shooting "football" this year... and then I saw your stuff. The world is all upside down now and I turned down an "american" football game to shoot soccer. I need to head over sometime and visit my dad and try to shoot some proper football someday. Anyway... nothing new to add.... love the coach shots... the mascot shot.... the rest of them.... great stuff.

Cheers Will.... it was one of those games where everything kinda fell into place. You don't get them very often ;)

Hi Roy - I think I was referring to registering an alternative AF point - an off-centre one that you can easily switch to when required.

One example is to register an AF point to the right of centre - so that when you turn the camera into the portrait position, the registered point will fall on the face of the subject rather than in their midriff.
