Juvenile Blue-Faced Honeyeater. When he reaches adulthood the luminous green will turn to a beautiful luminous dark blue. He led me on a merry chase for over half an hour to get this shot. I kept losing him, then finding him, he was playing hide and seek with me. Shot with my 50D, Sigma 150-500 using the 580 ex flash.

Here is another one of him in a different tree.

Nice catch Lloyd. I've always thought they had a bit of a prehistoric look to them.

Lol, yep, they can be fun to chase. You might want to check the white balance on your second image, it has a green cast.

Thanks, I have a lot of trouble with WB because I am a bit colour blind LOL, it does not help!

I really like the first shot -- awesome.

Color looks off on the second one and flash too harsh.

Thank Bret, yes, he led me a merry chase, I didn’t think I was going to get any good ones of him. I have to watch that WB, bouncing the flash around in greenery is a bit of a downfall for me.

Thanks, yes, he was further away so I tilted the flash straight forward instead of up wards so it hit him pretty hard.

Nice captures. The first one is great, shame the tail is clipped.

Thanks. Yes, I was pretty cranky with myself about that but he was quite a fast little sucker, he did not stay long anytime he spotted me, which was every time he stopped!

Thanks Mike. I have yet to catch a mature bird with the bright blue face, they look stunning – even though they are ugly haha

Thanks Lil, I was pretty happy in the end when I managed to get him, it became a bit of a game I think.
