Shoot with my fastest lens for indoor action. Luckily I was closest to the vault, the bokeh at 1.4 is silly :D No flash allowed so I had to bump the ISO to 400, about the highest acceptable for the 300D. Wish I had noise software that works, noise ninja just puts and unwanted grid on the image.

My 11 year old is pictured first. C&C welcomed.

I have 10 year olds but they play sports outside. Getting good expressions (eyes open) and good action and good focus is hard enough in daylight, so hats off to you trying in low light w/o flash.

The first one appears to have more light on the face etc yet the focus still hasn't got there by the time you've shot off that shutter. Not ever having driven a 300D I couldn't give you any clues to improve that - I don't know the menu options.

Anyone else?

One quick idea - go for the higher ISO than 400 and just convert to black and white - maybe a lowlight grainy doco style coverage of the event would have got you better focused/frozen action results?

Thanks for the feedback. Processing involved using the radius tool to about 4 to get rid of noise. And some slight sharpening.

Unltil I save up for a 135 f/2L prime, the fity will have to do. :D

Not as sharp as I would like, but I liked this one too:

That ones a "test shot".
When I'm sorting out my new pics fresh from the CF card reader, I'll can the outright duds and flash misfires or similar then sort thru the remaining ones to get down to -say- 3 dozen. Then I'll play "which of these would I even look at if I was a total stranger" card and usually end up with just a few to PP. (At no time do I delete any shots BTW - except the first "duds" and flash misfires etc. Just in case advisory...)

I Bo try ISO 1600 and over expose by 2/3 of a stop. It is suppose to help elminate the grainess. I haven't tried it yet. I just read about this the other day. Let me know if it works.
