I know this has been asked before but cannot seem to find the tried. I need to find a good online store in Canada. I want to get a Op/tech strap but to order from B&H the shipping is worth more than the part. Already looked at cameras Canada. they don't have it

Henry's has several different Optech straps available online. Just click here (external link) for a complete list (go down the page a bit).

I ordered my op/tech proloop strap from the link above http://www.procameragear.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=30 (external link) a few years ago and shipping was reasonable.

Hope this helps: (don't mean to offend any that I have missed; this is from memory and recent purchases.)

www.photoprice.ca (external link)

If you follow the links you'll have access to major stores in Canada. It won't help you price match for OpTech, but it will for major photo gear.
There is a comment on import charges too.

Some photo vendors, from memory

Western Canada? The Camera Store is in Calgary, I believe.

Eastern Canada? Henry's, Vistek, Aden.

SW Ontario? Stan C. Reade in London. Forest City Image Centre in London; Wish Linden Photo was still in business. Good people there!

I ordered directly from the OpTech site when I needed fittings; parts were inexpensive, shipping cost was reasonable. They even have discontinued bargains!

Finally, Helen Oster has helped me so much. Adorama has a heart! Shipping costs were a concern for me, and she found a way. Not free, but very helpful. I positively had to resolve the dreaded UPS broker charge. Surely they've found a way too.

B&H used to have a link for reasonable Canadian shipping; however, I haven't bought from them recently. Perhaps the gentleman who posts here can help with an explanation. Sorry, no link.

I get most of my stuff from B&H in the US as the prices are usually better (you can check with photoprice, as above). You can pre-pay the customs charges if applicable, and they have cheap purolator shipping to make it easy for us in Canada.

To go with the above answers, I've also shopped from McBain in Edmonton shipping to Ontario with good success (pre HST), and Simons in Montreal.

Great List....I have ordered from four of the places and have received good service. I mostly have used B & H this year as they have served me quite well. I like that they take care of the border charges so there is no surprise at my door! Even with the exchange I have saved money verses Canadian shopping depending on the item. A lot of camera gear will cross the border duty free to!

Thanks for the info... Usually i use B&H for my gear but eater shipping/border fees have changed or it just dosent pay to order 1pc at a time... The strap is only $19 but the shipping and border fees came out to over $16 i may send them a email and see if their is something they can do. They have always treated me great. Its not something i need right away anyway.
