A few shots from this morning at the Ding Darling NWR at Sanibel Island FL.
There were lots of birds around this morning, White Pelicans, Wood Storks
but the Rosate Spoonbills always steal the show. Here are a few.

Going to be making a couple trips to Florida in the next 8 weeks and I vow not to return without a Spoonbill shot.....Have to think positive .:)

Great shots Gary! How hard is it to get to where the spoonbills are at Ding Darling?

Walace, Ding Darling is very easy, the park is one long one way street, you park on the right and most of the birds are on your left.
If there aren't many folks around you can pull over to the left and shoot from your window. The photos you see here were taken with my tripod. 500 f4 with 1.4 tc. For example the first photo, is about 90% full frame just to give you some perspective of how close I was.
There is very little access outside of driving, however there are two path areas, one which takes you through a mangrove shell bottom, very few birds and the other just another view of one of the
areas you can see from your car.

Wallace -- one more thing the park personell sometimes "forget" to tell guests --- your entry reciept (even thought it is a flimsey paper roll type) IS GOOD FOR that entire day. If you don't get what you want early -- you can come back towards the end of the day. S000-- save that FLIMSEY paper reciept if there is any chance you want to come back later -- or even if you need to make several drives through. There is at least one or two wooden dock walkouts off to the right side of the road as well.

Quite the collection and combinations of "Pink" Garry... beautiful shots... I think that last image would be my favorite, a real interesting pose.
