its a nice picture, but I think his head seems overly large for some reason.

Blown whites, way too crushed histogram. Lens distortion quite evident and odd softness that does not enhance the image. I honestly would pay for the image. Get into an internship, "pay your dues", and take some classes. Just my humble opinion.

Not bad at all. Good exposure (perhaps very slightly overexposed; and you have pulled the blacks a little deep: note the boys hair) and color balance; focus is fine. Expression of the subject is the main thing holding the photo back. Sometimes you have to provoke the expression or just to wait for it.

I think the 'blown highlights' comment above is misleading (usually implies wrong exposure) in a sense given that this is possibly a studio shot with a white background. But he's right: from a creative standpoint, the image would have been better without the white (think about how it affects the mood of the image as opposed to their being, say, a warm color in the background, or a complimentary color, or an environment that provides context).

@Christopher: Thank you for your critics. I've never thought about the background effect like that. Thanks for opening up my eyes. It was a studio shot and my white background is already beat up. Maybe it's time to get a fresh roll of white paper background.
