Here are a few shots from my visit to Huntington Beach State Park last week. The park, located just south of Myrtle Beach, is a wonderful place for bird watchers.

You should have stopped by and said hello, we live 10 mins. from HBSP and are there all the time. :)
Yes, excellent location for birds and wildlife, and you got some good shots.

Well done Scott, wish I had known you were coming down. I live right down the road from the park. I was there on Sunday morning.

Thanks. I will try to keep that in mind for future trips. My wife and I own a condo in North Myrtle Beach, and usually make 2-4 trips per year down there. We do not always make it to Huntington Beach when we are in town, but it's always a fun way to spend a few hours when we have the time.

Here is a shot that's not that great, but it was a more unusual bird. Does anyone know what it is? It looks like some sort of heron to me.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll just add to an old one of mine. Here are a few shots from Huntington Beach State Park in South Carolina from last week:

Anyone for egrets over oysters?

This is by far the best look I've had at an osprey in all our visits to the park

This is not as good a shot of a painted bunting as I captured last year, but it is still such a cool bird to see

This was our first ever sighting of a green heron in the park
