Ok so I have done some video with my t2i using a tamron 17-50 non vc 2.8. While it did great for the pictures.. the videos i took were a different story...
i use my camera mainly for my kids sports... my setup is not heavy.. but i figured if i got a monopod i can turn IS off and have the camera rest..
i was going to go with a manfroto which will collapse to about 18"....
i was talking to my neighbor and he told me about the Primo Stick monopod. I opted for the long version.. shipped from amazon.com for $42..
so cost a little bit more than the manfroto, only collapses to 28". so costs more and is bigger...
now i havent used any monopods but i know the tripod i had (el cheapo for our old camcorder from years ago) was a pain to use as the legs were 3 pieces and unclip, extend, clip....
this thing is smooooth... manually extend the bottom part... pull trigger and top extends... but full trigger to get either section to collapse.. i see that handy for when you want to sit or kneel down...
only thing i do not like about this unit so far was the fact that the instructions were on a big sticker that they stuck around the unit... it took me 30-40 minutes to peel it off with my finger nails... grrrrrr..
that aside it seems nice..
I am 5'10 and with this fully extended.. i had to get on my tippy-toes to look through the eye piece.. so it is tall enough for me...
and will report back more later...
The V just unscrews off and the camera goes on... i dont have a ballhead so none to try...
pics...
