I agree with the exception of the Canon S95. The S95 is a sweet little camera!

I want to subscribe to this thread just to see what happens next.

As for the photo, I'm willing to be wrong, but that looks like camera shake.

Had you given a DSLR to the same person I'm guessing the result would not be too dissimilar.

Yup. The reason most p&s take such rubbish photos is nowt to do with the camera :D

Out of interest, why didn't you use your DSLR?

I didn't take my dSLRs out for Halloween this year, you can get some decent snapshots with anything if you know what you want the camera to do.

I've learned that not all Point and shoot's are created equal. That is a pretty bad pic but I've seen people do just as bad with a DSLR

That said, I know I would rather have my DSLR with me instead of my P&S but that isn't always an option. So I say the best camera is the one that is with you :)

I think for this kind of shots you need good flash.
But I can't find reasonably priced P&S with hot shoe to be close by IQ to my Rebel.

I love DSLRs too, but there are some incredibly good P&S cameras out there now that you could probably shoot a wedding with in a pinch, and I don't just mean the Canon G series..

Would you have any photos of this event if the P&S hadn't been there?
